Note from Instructor/Operator:

The CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) uses "air bearings" on the 3 movable axes, so it requires a supply of air to allow motion. Within the past 18 months, the main air supply tubing (after the Filter/Regulator) was found to be brittle and ruptured. I replaced it, and soon afterward a smaller downstream tube failed as well. Since the supplied air goes through the path of least resistance into the atmosphere, it does not create the air cushion anywhere inside the machine, and all motion is locked. I have a sample of the line at my desk, and I believe it would be a relatively simple fix once the machine is not backed against the wall
